I have cultivated cannabis for medical purposes and extensively researched the breeding of rare cannabis strains for these specific medical conditions.
On February 15th, 2011 I pleaded guilty in Timaru Court (New Zealand) to cultivation of cannabis and associated charges. The judge told me to expect a prison sentence on March 16th when I go up for sentencing because it is the fifth time I have been convicted. I appeared on March 16th, and thanks to the efforts of hundreds of supporters, we managed to fill the courtroom. The judge this time was still planning to send me to prison, but at the last minute delayed the sentencing until April 20th to allow me to provide more evidence. I appeared again on April 20th and by this time my story had become national and worldwide news thanks to the efforts of all my supporters. Again the Judge wanted to send me to prison but delayed the sentencing for a futher 8 weeks. The efforts of protesters at courthouses around the country and worldwide online have shown New Zealand politicans, police and judges that the world will not sit idly by while they use the Drug War as an excuse to torture sick and dying people. The battle is not over yet, as I appear again on June 22nd, and there is still a very real possibility that I will be sent to prison.
I want to make it clear that I will be going on a hunger strike the moment I am given a prison sentence and I absolutely do not want to be force fed under any circumstances. I will also be refusing all cancer medication. I am 100% committed to continuing with a hunger strike until I am dead.
